Itinerary:

a planned route or journey. A

 travel document recording these.

If you're expecting to summit an unguided party up Mt Rainier, you must submit a "projected" itinerary to the Mt. Rainier ranger office. The Rangers recommend that you come with this itinerary already written down, instead of working it out on the spot.

After the first 4 hours of our trip, we wouldn't end up following anything i wrote below.

Team JBT Overnight Itinerary for Mount Rainier. 6.28.17-7.1.17:

Jim Parker

Ben Wilson

Toby Nitzsche

6.28.17 Day 1

Leave Paradise Trailhead by 05:30hrs Pacific Time. The Day one goal is to cross the Nisqaully and Wilson Glaciers and reach the Turtle Snowfield before 13:00hrs (7hrs to climb 3 miles/6,000ft of elevation). Camp for Day 1 will be no higher than 10,900 feet and no lower than 10,500 feet – Upper most point of the Turtle Snowfield. Team JBT will be together in an Orange MH EV3 tent.

6.29.17 Day 2

Team JBT will start up towards the Kautz ice wall and then down towards the toe of the Glacier around 04:30 to begin the 2 steepest pitches of the Glacier climb proper. Weather permitting, the team will reach the summit before 12:00 hrs. If the weather is unremarkable, the team will plan to spend the night in the crater and descend the Disappointment Cleaver route early the next morning. If the weather merits retreat from the summit, the team will plan to descend the Disappointment Cleaver route immediately with the intent of camping night two at Camp Muir, reaching Camp Muir no later than 19:00hrs.  Either way, Team JBT does not plan on descending back down the Kautz Glacier route.

6.30.17 Day 3

If the team camps in the crater of Mountain Rainer, the team will plan to start the descent towards Camp Muir no later than 06:30 and will descend the Disappointment Cleaver route complete the final day - out to Paradise.  If the team descends to Camp Muir on the second day due to weather, the third day will be spent hiking out the remainder from Camp Muir to Paradise.

7.1.17 Day 4

Day 4 will only be used if weather or other obstacles keep us from summiting on Day 2 or reaching Camp Muir on Day 3.
